500 trees and 2 donkeys. It's about a 20-minute drive from Sutivan on small country lanes with low stone walls through endless groves of knotted olive trees, left and right and left again until most people get somewhat lost.
Then suddenly, there it is, our olive house.
From its large rooftop terrace, you can see Solta, the neighboring island, Split, the Croatian coastal mountains, the straits, and the vast Adriatic Sea. Growing on 50 hectares around the house are 500 olive trees, from which we press our own olive oil. And right next door is the stable of our donkey couple Tito and Stanko.
On special evenings, we come here to grill lamb and suckling pig over the open fire with our guests and enjoy simple, authentic Croatian cuisine with sarma and cevapcici served in homemade flatbread. What’s missing? Our delicious homemade, fruity, and spicy ajvar, creamy kamjak, and hand-cut fries. Good food can be so simple.
The large sun terrace offers the perfect view to enjoy the sunset, which makes the mainland mountains glow red. The band plays Croatian folk music to accompany the beautiful view. In autumn, usually at the end of October, we also organize a big festival here where friends and those who are interested help us with the olive harvest and take home their own olive oil as a souvenir.
