It's about a 20-minute drive from Sutivan, along small dirt roads lined with low stone walls, through endless groves of gnarled olive trees, left and right and left again, until most people have completely lost their bearings. Then suddenly there it is, our olive house.
500 trees and three gay donkeys.
From its large roof terrace, you can see Solta, the neighbouring island, Split, the Croatian coastal mountains, the straits and the vast Adriatic Sea. Around the house, 500 olive trees grow on 50 hectares of land, from which we press our own olive oil. Right next to them is the stable of our three gay donkeys.
Good things can be so simple. On special evenings, we come here, barbecue lamb and suckling pig over an open fire with our guests, and enjoy simple, authentic Croatian cuisine with sarma and cevapcici served in homemade flatbread. What else is a must? Homemade, fruity and spicy ajvar, creamy kamjak and hand-cut chips, of course.
The large sun terrace offers the perfect view to enjoy the sunset, which lights up the mainland mountains in red. The band plays Croatian folk music to accompany it. In autumn, usually at the end of October, we also organise a big party here, where friends and interested parties help us with the olive harvest and take home their own olive oil as a souvenir.
