Adults Only Hotel by the sea
Last year, there was heated debate in France over a proposed ban on child-free hotels and restaurants. Guests saw this as discrimination against minors. Since it opened ten years ago, the Hotel Lemongarden on the Croatian island of Brač has deliberately positioned itself as an adults-only seaside hotel. But this is not out of any hostility towards children. Rather, it stems from the realisation that the needs of families and couples on holiday are simply different.

A romantic hideaway
The emergence of the ‘adults-only’ holiday concept is often traced back to the 1970s. It is said that the pioneers were honeymoon destinations typical of that era, such as the Caribbean. It is no longer really possible to trace who actually offered holidays for adults for the first time, or when and where this happened. What can be said with certainty, however, is that the number of adults-only hotels is increasing. But not because hotels are unfriendly places for children. On the contrary, the number of specialist children’s hotels and family-friendly concepts is also rising. All types of holiday that appeal to the respective target group have their place.
To ensure a stay is equally unforgettable for families and children, facilities such as childcare, playgrounds and playrooms, hotel corridors easily navigable with pushchairs, special safety measures and amenities are required. The existing layout of the Hotel Lemongarden is not particularly well suited to this. However, the romantic walls of our hotel, situated right by the sea, are perfectly suited to a romantic adult holiday for couples or a peaceful break for solo travellers.

It is broken only by soothing sounds such as the lapping of the waves, the humming of bees and the soft rustling of palm fronds swaying in the gentle sea breeze.
