Brač 100K: An Island United for a Good Cause
On 24 July 2026, local resident Stjepan Lukšić set off on the adventure of a lifetime: he swam 100 kilometres around the entire island. But records and trophies were not what motivated him. The Brač 100K had a humanitarian purpose.

Who is Stjepan Lukšić?
Although the 43-year-old programmer now lives in Zagreb, he still feels deeply connected to his home island of Brač. He is not a professional swimmer, and the longest distance he had previously covered in the water was 15 kilometres from Split to Supetar, across the Brač Channel. His next challenge was to be several levels bigger. Lukšić wanted to swim around the entire island, above all to raise awareness.
During his Brač 100K, he used this attention to support the organisation More snage Brač. Founded in Supetar in 2026, the organisation supports people living with and recovering from cancer, as well as their families. Its services include psychological support, workshops, lectures, educational programmes and shared activities. The aim is to provide people on Brač with help directly on the island.
What is Brač 100K?
Lukšić began the challenge on 24 July 2026 at 8 a.m. in Supetar. With his first jump into the water, he started the first of a total of ten stages around the island. Famous Croatian long-distance swimmer Dina Levačić accompanied him during the roughly four-hour stage.
From then on, he entered the water every day and spent a total of 40 hours swimming. He reached the halfway point on 27 July in Bol, where numerous people gathered on the shore to welcome and celebrate him.
With each stage, more people came to cheer him on, see him off and welcome him at the finish. The route took him from Supetar to Sutivan, Milna, Bol, Sumartin, Povlja, Pučišća, Postira and back to Supetar. What began as a small idea quickly became an event that inspired the entire island.
Friends and fellow swimmers accompanied him in the water, while the fire brigade helped with logistics. The local hero also succeeded in getting people interested in sport and cleaner seas. Although the swimming marathon has now ended, anyone who would still like to support the charity project financially can do so via its social media channels.
A Holiday by the Sea
The very waters in which Lukšić completed kilometre after kilometre are, of course, also perfect for guests of Hotel Lemongarden to enjoy a swim — at a much more relaxed pace.
