Special features of the Lemongarden restaurant

Imagine sitting right on the harbour promenade. Gentle waves lap against the shore, their surface dancing with the light of the setting sun. The stone of the surrounding 700-year-old houses radiates the day’s warmth; it is still pleasantly warm. Sitting opposite you is someone you hold dear. And together you can look forward to an atmospheric evening promising carefully and skilfully prepared dishes.

Head chef Ante Udovičić is responsible for this. Before working in Croatia’s finest establishments, he also gained international experience. His CV features such renowned names as Das Steirereck in Vienna, The Jane in Antwerp and The French Laundry in California. In the kitchen of Restaurant Lemongarden, he is able to combine many of his personal passions. One could describe Ante asa fanatic for product quality and a grand master of grilling.

What makes this kitchen stand out?

The head chef also has a knack for conjuring up magnificent dishes from relatively simple ingredients. Among his signature dishes are the famous Brač lamb tripe in tomato sauce. Naturally, the menu also features less exotic dishes, which are nonetheless highlights in their own right. Think, for example, of risotto, homemade pasta and braised octopus. The overarching theme of the cuisine at the Hotel Lemongarden is a commitment to the island’s heritage.

For more than 700 years, Brač was part of the Venetian Empire. To this day, traces of this heritage can be found not only in the buildings but also in the cuisine. Mediterranean delicacies made from regional and seasonal produce therefore take centre stage: prawns, oysters and sea urchins from the rocky coves, freshly caught fish and squid from the Split Channel, and delicious Brač lamb. And when it comes to herbs, organic vegetables and olive oil, hyper-locality is the order of the day. These ingredients come directly from the hotel’s own farm. A special vegan menu is also available.

Every dinner by the sea here begins with an amuse-bouche and crispy, homemade bread. Whilst you dip fluffy pieces of bread intothe flavourful Lemongarden olive oil, preparing your palate for the delights to come, Ante and his team in the kitchen get to work on your order. Modern cooking techniques, creativity and sophistication combine with high-quality ingredients, flavours and textures. And because, as we all know, you eat with your eyes first, great importance is also placed on an appealing presentation.

Our restaurant has been recommended in many well-known restaurant guides, but one of the finest accolades is the praise of our guests. When they enjoy our menus with a good glass of wine in the special atmosphere by the harbour, moments are inevitably created that they will remember for a long time to come.
