The Best Ice Cream in Croatia
For guests at the Lemongarden Hotel, a visit to the Gelateria Rosa A popular daily ritual. After all, in our opinion, this is where you’ll find the best ice cream in Croatia. But that’s not all: it also entices customers with croissants that rival their French counterparts, legendary hazelnut balls, and perfect mille-feuille. Actually, calling it a “gelateria” is even a bit of an understatement.

World-class pastry chef Lukas Pavic
Sometimes your calling finds you when you’re not even really looking for it. At least that was the case for the young pastry chef Luka Pavić. He first completed an apprenticeship at a school for design, graphic arts, and sustainable construction before ending up in a kitchen as a commis chef. It wasn’t until he happened to help out at a pastry shop that he finally realized what his heart truly beats for: sweet creations, little delicacies, and delicate temptations.
Anyone who bites into a perfect macaron at Gelateria Rosa today can let the result of talent and passion melt on their tongue. Ivan trained under the renowned Croatian master pastry chef Tereza Alabanda, worked in well-known Croatian patisseries, and eventually attended Le Cordon Bleu London—one of the world’s best culinary schools—where he studied Baking & Pastry Arts.
Outstanding Desserts at the Sutivan Harbor
At the Hotel Lemongarden, Ivan is in charge of the dessert menu, the hotel bakery, and the gelateria. Here, he uses fresh fruit to conjure up not only the best ice cream in Croatia, but also treats that pair perfectly with fresh coffee. He places a special emphasis on balanced sweetness and seasonal ingredients. Combined with French techniques, he creates desserts that you’ll still be dreaming about long after your vacation is over.
Perhaps it’s also because the ambiance is simply perfect: shades of pink, delightful desserts in the display case, and fine porcelain all add to the charm of Gelateria Rosa. Guests can enjoy the best ice cream in Croatia, coffee, and pastries right on the harbor promenade. Croatia is known for its desserts—and our guests can taste why with every bite.
One of our signature dishes is, of course, the lemon tart. Just like our ice cream, it’s made with fresh fruit; the lemons come straight from our garden. Because our desserts are so popular, we recommend stopping by in the morning, when the selection is still at its best. Our hotel guests have the best spot for this. They get to enjoy Lukas’s creations right at breakfast. Together with the delicious Lemongarden jam, which is also homemade, makes for a delicious start to the day.
